Development of a Method to Measure Moisture Distribution in Biofilters (TiHo)

Aeration of pigsties is a challenge for both animals and the environment. Ammonia, odorants, and pathogens adversely affect the health of men and animals, and draft makes the animals ill as well.

Special biological filters are to clean the exhaust air and to eliminate odor and health burdens also outside of pigsties. Their cleaning efficiency can be improved by the addition of water. For control purposes, moisture is determined in the filter package. To determine spatial distribution of moisture, TAUPE cable sensors are applied at various positions in the filter package.
